In 2007, Joe Bellantoni was involved in a catastrophic car accident that rendered him blind. It all started when we set out to find things to do and all we got was “well there’s books on tape.” I would ask, “what else is there to do?” I wanted more. I wanted everyone to experience cooking classes, snow tubing, bowling, row boating, foraging through Central Park, social engagements, parties, etc. I wanted to form a community of people with all types of disabilities and abilities to just go out and have fun, something to look forward to doing and getting out of their comfort zone for pure fun and socialization. It’s important to have friends and laugh and learn new things. It helps avoid depression. This is very important for people who are or become disabled. I want to make a change in people’s lives.
